Nina Simon, who works with Redbridge Libraries was surprised to receive the invitation at first:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>My first reaction was \u201cis this a scam?&#8221; On confirming its authenticity, my next thought was \u201cwhy me?&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only when the ornate invitation, edged beautifully with flowers, insects and birds slid through my letterbox, did it actually dawn on me that\u202fI was going to be sitting in Westminster Abbey, witnessing this momentous historic occasion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<cite>Nina Simon, https:\/\/domorercl.wordpress.com\/2023\/05\/15\/my-day-at-the-kings-coronation-by-nina-simon\/<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Nina was one of just 2,000 invited guests to witness the historic occasion. This has been the location of Coronation ceremonies for the last nine centuries in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Nina tells us that she was expected to be waiting to enter the Abbey by 7.15am on Saturday 6 May and that the Abbey doors shut at 8.30am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She talks about the talent of some of the people chosen to sing at the ceremony and the gravitas that could be felt throughout the venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see a full version of the Order of Service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/2023-05\/The%20Coronation%20Order%20of%20Service.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visionrcl.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/20230506_081751.jpg\" alt=\"A image of the front page of the order of service for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla\" class=\"wp-image-89615 size-full\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>People watching was on another level.\u202f As well as spotting Ant and Dec, Lionel Ritchie, Jay from Repair Shop, Dame Floella Benjamin and the Chief Rabbi,\u202fRishi Sunak also walked past me, escorted by a sword carrying soldier.<\/p>\n<cite>Nina Simon, https:\/\/domorercl.wordpress.com\/2023\/05\/15\/my-day-at-the-kings-coronation-by-nina-simon\/<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There were many well-known people in attendance on the day.
