Kenneth More Theatre forced to postpone Grand (Re)-opening"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nWe&#8217;re really disappointed to hear the latest government guidance on indoor performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike many theatres we are in a position where it can be viable reopen. We&#8217;ve implemented thorough social distancing throughout the theatre and are confident that our standards are at the highest level beyond many sectors that have already re-opened. The Kenneth More Theatre is ready to go; staff, performers and patrons are ready to return and the overwhelmingly positive response we\u2019ve received confirms this. The theatre is not only part of our local cultural offer but a lifeline for many involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were due to have our first show tomorrow but instead we will be re-opening in exactly a weeks time for screenings and cinema. We had considered live performance very carefully in our plans to ensure thorough social distancing and limited performers on stage ie: a pianist and a singer at one time with a vast distance from stage to seating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We find the announcement today shows a lack of understanding about the sector and how it can work safely, in a controlled environment. We will not be defeated. As soon as we can, we will re-open for live performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will re-open on the very first day that we are legally able to. Hopefully in the two weeks that the Prime Minister referred to today.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been working behind the scenes to get the theatre safe and ready for you to enjoy and have prepared a social distancing video too.
