Valentines Park has beaten off tough competition to be voted as one of the best green spaces in the country for the fifth time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last month over 45,000 Britons voted for their favourite park as part of the People\u2019s Choice 2019 awards with Valentines reaching the top ten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organised by Keep Britain Tidy<\/strong><\/a>, this prestigious poll finds the nation\u2019s top 10 open spaces from almost 2,000 awarded Green Flag Award status by the environment charity. In July, eight other Redbridge parks and open spaces successfully retained their coveted Green Flag status for another year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Running for over thirty years, the Green Flag is a sign to visitors that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has the very best facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Valentines Park is one of east London\u2019s hidden gems, with gardens, lakes, landscaped fields and historic 300-year-old country house \u2013 Valentines Mansion. In addition to the gardens and open green spaces, the facilities at the park for the public to enjoy include a children’s play area, an outdoor gym, boat hire, sports pitches and tennis courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cllr Jas Athwal<\/strong>, Leader of Redbridge Council said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic news that Valentines Park has been voted in the top ten favourite parks in the country. We are so fortunate to have so many beautiful green spaces and playparks all around the borough and I\u2019m really pleased that our commitment to and continued investment in providing the very best parks for our residents to enjoy has been recognised once again.
