Afro Classics Register & Car Club at Wanstead Festival
<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Afro Classics will be showcasing a selection of their classic cars for the first time at Wanstead Festival on Sunday 14 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afro Classics is a car club and register of classic cars for individuals of African and Caribbean descent. Afro Classics provides a safe space for them to enjoy and express their cultures. The club comprises 200 members from various ethnic backgrounds and professions. A key objective of the club is to \u201cdrive for change\u201d by utilising members’ skills and experiences to contribute to a more inclusive, progressive, society focused on meritocracy.  The members cars are the vehicle used to get to important conversations and contributing to \u201cchanging the narrative\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>
Errol McKellar is a prostate cancer survivor and founder of The Errol McKellar Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finding out by pure chance that he had the disease in late 2010, Errol had an operation to remove his prostate.
On his return to work as a mechanic some months later, he felt it was his calling to offer men 20% discount if they went to have their PSA blood test to check for prostate cancer. His actions saved many lives.
Over the years, Errol has made it his mission to raise the awareness of prostate cancer as it affects too many men and their families in the UK and that was the beginning of The Errol McKellar Foundation with the MOT Yourself campaign and motto.  Errol is working with Afro Classics Car Club to bring greater awareness to this very important topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Errol McKellar Foundation is raising funds to get a mobile PSA blood testing vehicle, so that it can visit local communities, enabling men to have a PSA blood test without having to visit their GP, unless they test positive.

Errol Kellar Foundation run Sit & Talk Prostate Cancer support groups enabling men, particularly black men, to share their experiences in a safe, calm and supportive environment. The groups sessions are currently held in Brixton, Edmonton and Walthamstow in London and there are plans to expand across England and Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Errol\u2019s tireless efforts to raise the awareness have been recognised over the years, notably an NHS Heroes Award in 2018, he was honoured to receive an MBE in 2021 and was given the Diversity and Inclusion Award at the National Men and Boys Awards in 2022. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n
