Portraits of Love, Light & Memory – Festival of the Dead
Join Barkingside Art Club in celebration of the Day of the Dead with Redbridge Libraries – a time to honour, remember, and celebrate the lives of our loved ones.
This year, we invite you to bring a photograph or memory of someone special – a grandparent, parent, friend, family member, or even a pet – and together we will transform these memories into art.
We’ll explore a variety of creative methods of portrait-making, from drawing and painting to expressive mark-making and printmaking. For those who prefer not to draw faces, you can create portraits without eyes, or use patterns, symbols, and colours to tell your story.
Each portrait will include a personal message or memory, written in your own words, celebrating love, connection, and the people we miss – whether they are near or far.
Together, our portraits and words will form a collective gallery of love, remembrance, and community.
This is not just about making art; it’s about drawing together, sharing stories, and creating something meaningful as a community.
